Joinpane docs

Joinpane keeps a website login your team shares in one long-lived browser in the cloud, called an identity. Someone signs in once; after that, everyone you choose, people and agents, opens their own window into the signed-in account from a computer or a phone. Nobody else needs the password, sign-in codes go to the phones of the people you name, and the website always sees the same device in the same place.

The words we use

Joinpane uses a few words in exact meanings, in the app and in these docs.

Identity
One website login your team shares: its own browser, its tabs and its IP address. Someone signs in to the website once, inside it.
Window
Your own view into an identity, with as many tabs as you open. Up to 5 windows can be open in an identity at once, people and agents together. A window is private until you share it.
Watching
Looking at someone else's window, which they chose to share. Watchers see it live and can't click or type.
Driving
Controlling a window's mouse and keyboard. You always drive your own window; in a shared one, one person drives at a time.
Take over, hand over
Ask the driver of a shared window for control, or give it back.
Phone owners
The people who hold the phone a website sends its sign-in codes to. Joinpane brings them the code when the website asks.
Drive
Your workspace's shared files. Website downloads land here, and files go from here to websites that ask for one.
Agent
Software that uses an identity through MCP or the HTTP API, in a window of its own. Always labelled as an agent.
Node
A machine you run that hosts identities instead of Joinpane cloud.
Shared, Team, Private
The three tiers of IP address. Shared is a pool with other Joinpane customers, Team is one address for your whole workspace, and Private is one address for one identity.
